Podcast Paul:

Just two Murph's talking hoops. The journey to June is complete. We have completed the journey, coach. We did it.

Coach Murph:

We did it, we did it, we did it, we did it, we did it, we did it, we did it. I'm like the biggest little kid right now. I went to get a shake at the shake place and I was right after the day after and I was the total child. It's jubilant. Like couldn't, like that had too much cotton candy. Just from the full on. Just joy that we have, and they're all loving it, though, because we're in the Green Nation.

Podcast Paul:

I'm like.

Coach Murph:

I'm going to explode. What a feeling. Congratulations podcast, paul Coach, green nation. I'm like I'm going to explode. What a feeling. Congratulations podcast, paul coach. Congratulations to you too, coach.

Podcast Paul:

This has been a long time coming. I mean, we can talk about this season, but really, for you and I, this goes back to 2018, when we drafted jason tatum. That's how long this journey has been.

Coach Murph:

I didn't even know. It came out of me the next day too, like I was telling paul, before we started the pod, I I I watched it on, I streamed it and it shut off after, before the, the mvp awards and stuff. So I was like I was so tired I slept. And then I saw it the next morning and on the before I went to the gym and I it was like a sense of relief and this emotion came out. I was like, oh, like, really like it was like a sense of relief and this emotion came out. I was like, oh, like it was that. How much it's like people say, don't be emotionally in charge, involved, shut up. We were so involved spiritually, emotionally, psychologically. I felt this release of joy and happiness emotional and they did it, man.

Coach Murph:

It's amazing After eight years, eight years. There's so many good lessons learned from this and it's emotional and they did it, man. It's amazing after eight years eight years there's so many good lessons learned from us. I have so much to talk about. We're gonna let paul gasp all the helm, the captain of this ship.

Podcast Paul:

Okay, thank you, and we're gonna start right where it matters the most. Like you just said, eight years with how about our background folks?

Coach Murph:

you're welcome here for your entertainment.

Podcast Paul:

Just two j2ms they are world champions. They did get banner 18. They did it together. We dubbed it on the last pod super guy. Everybody wanted to hit these guys against each other all these years. Right, they can't play together. They don't like each other. Here's the facts jalen brown was drafted in 2017. Number three and uh tatum came in the next year and they played number two behind foltz shoot. No, he was number three, he was three. Who was after Fultz?

Coach Murph:

Fultz was the big letdown. Ooh, yeah, ooh.

Podcast Paul:

All right, you're getting off topic. We're not going to go there.

Coach Murph:

I know, go ahead, I'm going to do it while you talk.

Podcast Paul:

Go ahead. This is about the Jays, but right, they couldn talked about it last pod, throughout these playoffs, what we learned and the whole world learned after after they won on monday night these guys love each other, they play for each other. In fact, when jalen brown got the mvp, he even said I'm sharing this with my partner in crime, and you could just see the joy they have together. They and they said after in their interviews they need each other and it's and part of the journey is those guys together and finally we can all see that they've gotten over the hump, coach. That's what this has all been about. We love the Jays, we love their game. Now that they're over the hump, they're champions. I mean, we say the journey is complete. The journey does continue.

Coach Murph:

The. The journey does continue the journey. I. I know I've never been more whole and complete. I can go, I can fall asleep and not wake up and be hot and take me to heaven, folks, but listen you, I want people to. I'm going to double stand what you just said, paul. It wasn't me, it was paul who said who dubbed it. We have so many hashtags and so many coins on j2ms. One super guy, that's a one word. One super guy. I love that. Those two and everybody's talking about it Break them up this that. But did you see, in the championship at the end, when they were champagne doing all the goggles doing the fun stuff, what did he say? What are they going?

Podcast Paul:

to say now. What are they going to say now? What are they going say? What are they?

Coach Murph:

gonna say, we're gonna say now what are they gonna say now? What are they gonna say? Now, that's the thing, so we got that. That's the quote. Now, what are we gonna say? Now we did it. I I forget, uh what what jt said at the end we did it. He was like having a kg moment when I don't know where.

Podcast Paul:

He said, like I think, think he has come out just with this playoff run, which you know. Let's stay in the moment with this playoff run. By the way, this was historic, coach. I think we were in the moment.

Coach Murph:

Pause, pause, pause, Sorry. First pick Fultz. Second pick Lonzo Ball from UCLA Gosh and Fultz came from Washington. By the way, your state without Paul's in right now, and JT was number three straight out of Duke. All right, continue play.

Podcast Paul:

So you know we were in the moment this whole season. We didn't want to get ahead of ourselves Right, but this was his historic run. Let's start there. 16 and three in the playoffs. They are the second team since they changed the playoffs, where in 2003, is when they changed the first round from five games to seven games so since 2003, no one has been more dominant, except I want to say it was that 2016, 2017 warriors with kd it was but we only lost three dude, and there was never anything in doubt.

Podcast Paul:

First round five games. Second round five games Sweeping the Eastern Conference Finals.

Coach Murph:

No doubt without saying Five games in the finals.

Podcast Paul:

No doubt without saying but back to Superguy. Yeah, the media still it's like yeah, but Jason Tatum wasn't great until the last game. He had this great breakout game in game five.

Coach Murph:

They're always going to do that, aren't they?

Podcast Paul:

He was awesome the entire way through because he was a complete player. He's rebounding, he's doing what he needs to do in every game, but it was pretty cool that JT showed up and showed out for game five, right. I love that.

Coach Murph:

Paul Caspi is breaking it down for you guys, it's a celebration pod.

Podcast Paul:

It. Paul Caspi is breaking it down for you. It's a celebration pod.

Coach Murph:

It's a celebration. We did it. Celebration. Pod man, you're welcome. Green nation, we brought the spirit of the Paul. We call it spirit of the bills. Bill Russell, bill Walton oh, my buddy, I forgot to take a picture of his shirt. He got the Bill Walton tee.

Podcast Paul:

I saw it.

Coach Murph:

And then Jerry West, and then Jerry.

Podcast Paul:

West, but let's also give a shout out. So the Jays. We're happy for them. It's all about the Jays. We gotta talk about the team and by starting out with the team, we gotta give a shout out to Wick Wick, grossman and Brad.

Coach Murph:

Stevens.

Podcast Paul:

And Norman Bob.

Coach Murph:

They put this team together. Wick's been around forever, dude. He's actually a good owner. We hate our like ownership. Most people like oh, ownership, oh, no, old white rich billionaires. But no, wick's been actually a really good owner. We should give him his love I mean again.

Podcast Paul:

We brought this up before in the pod, we'll bring it up again. Look where we were last year yeah we were so close. We got to the seventh game of the Eastern Conference Finals. And what vindication for Jalen Brown, that press conference where he's just down in the dumps.

Podcast Paul:

I let the city of Boston down. Redemption Highest level Eastern Conference Final MVP and Finals MVP. But anyway, when we were on that pod Coach was unhappy We've talked about this, they're not gonna ever do it, they're not gonna break through. And that's where we got to say kudos to wick and brad because they yeah, and I loved what he gathered this year to make it happen for the jays yeah, and what he had to say.

Coach Murph:

I was like way to give everybody a give. They're so selfless and they're like, no, it's them, no, it's here. And wick was talked about, brad, how important brad was with the acquisitions, and and just everybody's what they did.

Podcast Paul:

Joe, joe's love, joe, we'll get to joe in a second joe let's, let's hold off on joe, because you know what to do, but I want to talk about jt.

Coach Murph:

Go back to his numbers again, because he did so well, we're just talking about the numbers, so it's 31. He dropped 31. With how many assists?

Podcast Paul:

I want to see.

Coach Murph:

Well, he had 9 in the first half 11 dude that's what I'm talking about with 8 boards, you know these numbers are cool. Jb does 21, 6 assists, 8 boards keep going over a little topic I'm trying to make a point of. They dominated Horford, horford, 9-9. Drew, the glue Coined by Paul Gasol, 15-11. Boards I'm talking Boards D, white, eight boards, 14 points. Let's stop there.

Podcast Paul:

Rebounds, win championships, it turns out.

Coach Murph:

Rebounds win championships. It turns out ring rings. All right, you know. Yeah, let me just finish with this and then we'll get into it. I have a little quote, and it goes like this, from pat summit. His credit was saying offense sells tickets, defense wins games, rebounding wins championships oh yeah, the great coaches out there, including myself, to say it.

Podcast Paul:

I have humble confidence.

Coach Murph:

I'm not being cocky, I'm just one of the greatest of all time and that's the mentality you've got to have, humbly, I humbly know I can mess with the best and that's how I have. I don't care if you're even bigger and better than me and talented than me. I still am going to fight for the life. You know I'm a killer like that.

Podcast Paul:

That's the way you're gonna be, that's what they were we, until it happened. Right, we were still stuck in the old celtics. We just were all the way through this run we at time we said we weren't, but we were right. Yeah, and back to wick and brad, because you got to remember when they got Porzingis, we were all excited about that. That's when we coined the no zing no ring but we were upset about Marcus. Everybody out there all admitted he's the heart and soul of the team, right?

Podcast Paul:

bro, I have to keep saying no, I wasn't but there was a lot of people out there that felt that.

Coach Murph:

I wasn't. So that's just a fact, truth. Everybody else was like Murph, murph, what are you talking about? But I'm like, of course, no, no, no, he wasn't the leader that we needed. He's not the point guard and leader we needed. He was a defensive super man. He was a little demigod defensively, but he wasn't the Drew glue Exactly he's but he wasn't the drew glue exactly he's. Not too hard. I mean, it's not anything or general. There's so much to talk about how good this team is and for the lessons, for kids especially, to learn. What were the kids too, about teamwork, about the purity of basketball, about selflessness, adversity, about a role, knowing your job, playing your role. It's just, oh, there's so much true was so good during this whole entire playoffs as being a leader in rebounding and being a dog, and again thanks to wick and brad because they got true right, I guess.

Podcast Paul:

Thank you milwaukee and portland as well. Thank you for giving us true holiday, but that was the nothing. We got him for a bag of chips.

Coach Murph:

Thank you, yeah, drew.

Podcast Paul:

Drew.

Coach Murph:

Drew. Thank you, men of faith. They're so good. Joe. Joe did such a great job, the best team, so I got an argument I didn't get an argument. I totally just I was in the sauna with the boys and I go, guys, Guys, I think 08 would beat 24. Oh, and they went what no way. And they made good points. I'm like ooh, so that's a whole other thing.

Podcast Paul:

We will get in at the end of the pod on where these guys rank on all the champions. That's the other thing. We've broken the drought. They did it. It's been five and a half years since we've had our last championship, so boom, that's all gone now, I'm sorry, it's been five and a half years since our last championship in Boston, and who it was. It would have been the Patriots.

Coach Murph:

The Pats, yeah, of course.

Podcast Paul:

Right, so that's broken.

Coach Murph:

Let's give props to the Pats because they have to. That's it. I'll just say this. They started in one for us.

Podcast Paul:

Yeah, I went red socks.

Coach Murph:

Yeah, then I went, and then I went to the celtics ruins, yeah, so wait, oh say this 617?

Podcast Paul:

I don't even know. Yes, yes, yes I didn't.

Coach Murph:

I was. You know me, I'm carefree, just living free, doing my thing, coaching. I'm all over the place daily. It's crazy, improvising and just coaching and helping and living life. Murph ball. And then we had our ritual. Paul would call me and we had our pre-call with podcast Paul, the pre-call with podcast P aka Cozy P, aka the Cozy Knight, aka Prediction P, prophetic P, let's go. P. Anyway, he called and said 617 I'm like what it's? 617, and it's that's our area code in boston, for you guys that don't know. And it was july, I mean june 17th, dude, what it wasn't that the same day 16 years later to june 17th was so 16 years ago.

Podcast Paul:

The last time they won the championship, it was on june 17. It was the same same date, you tell me, you don't believe in a higher power.

Coach Murph:

What the heck same day it's all written.

Podcast Paul:

And then what? We even made it better and I'm sure you've seen it. I think the ticket put it out on on his, because he's the one who did it. Uh, kevin garnett, where he's doing the anything, thank you, kevin garnett, anything is possible.

Coach Murph:

Thank you, right.

Podcast Paul:

Thank you for that. Yeah, and then jason tatum's going. We did it. Yeah, I think he's got his own version of it.

Coach Murph:

It's almost like he was like that was cringe worthy. I'm like no, I don't judge it, I know that was pure emotion it was, it was dude, he's feeling it right now.

Coach Murph:

I hope it was but it doesn't matter anyway. But KG and Paul Pierce were a big part of this man and the big take in the truth, that show and them, and I just love that, you know the both of them. They're dynamic because he's more chill than Paul, you know, and then it's kind of like us man. Kg's out of his mind, yeah, and his energy is so wonderful, wonderful. But we talked about that team though I don't want to get into that, let's just talk about the present. But that's the whole thing about this, all this whole journey to june, season two accomplished. It's like we did it it's it's, it's complete. But it's the moment you keep. Are we always in? Jb would always say it's the moment man. Stay in the moment, man, and I'm alive yeah, but hold on here, grace.

Podcast Paul:

It is stay in the moment, but we just won the championship, so now what we do is we do look at the entire thing yeah, look back this team this team now that we can walk away like it's like whoa, okay, the journey's been complete, we won the championship. Let's look at this team. It was historic. Like I said earlier, this team is better than 08. This team, if I was to rank it, we're going to get right into it, you're going into it, let's go 1986, 2024.

Podcast Paul:

And then we can rank the rest of them. That's where I'm putting this team right now. You might say we're in the moment, but think about it, I didn't go there yet.

Coach Murph:

I wasn't ready to put about it.

Podcast Paul:

I don't think I want to put him against bird I mean, we all were like, oh, after game four, which turns out it was a total anomaly oh my gosh, this might be, the best team in history, besides the bill russell years dude I don't even know you can't do this.

Coach Murph:

We can't do the goat.

Podcast Paul:

Think about our top six and now that they're champions, jason Tatum.

Coach Murph:

Jalen Brown Drew.

Podcast Paul:

Holliday Chris Topps, porzingis, al we're going to talk about good old Big Al he finally got his chip and Derek White, mr Chip Tooth himself. How cool is that so?

Coach Murph:

much every single. I have more respect for him out. I would have been I'm a top tough, I'm tough. I mean we probably wouldn't have done that because I'm tough, but I would have still been like he is. He smashed his face and smushed his face. I was like broken nose man time right. That's another main, that's the main thing here. Hard teamwork, which I always say with the boys, say one, two, hard. When I say hard, you say work, hard, work, hard work. When I say team, you say work, team work, team work. One, two, three. Pembroke that's a shout out for my Pembroke boys. Aiden Speckowski, spac, called JV being the MVP before the series started or during the series, I forget what it was, but he called it. Nobody called that. But that's just our top six Coach. There you go, spac, that's just our top six.

Coach Murph:

Good luck, boys. This weekend you guys win, have fun and stay in the moment, but hard work, teamwork. They're gritty, they're tough, that's all it is man. That's it right, that's it go ahead paul.

Podcast Paul:

So back to the best team. Well, I can't put them above 86. I think that was you know dude, I don't know, I think.

Coach Murph:

So now I'm thinking I'm right, because we're just talking about our top six?

Podcast Paul:

they're that good. What about the rest of the guys? Remember going into this season I.

Coach Murph:

Can't do this.

Podcast Paul:

Again, we were excited about what Wick and Brad put together even before the season started. That's why we got all hyped up to begin season two. Chris Dobbs we believed in Drew even before he did what he did.

Coach Murph:

I believed him before we got him. We were supposed to get him the other year.

Podcast Paul:

They said we were top-heavy After our top six we got nobody Wrong Top heavy.

Coach Murph:

Can we talk about a 50-point half-court shot from Peyton?

Podcast Paul:

Pritchard yeah, pp, it was game over after he got shot. How amazing was that, how great was he.

Coach Murph:

They have a set play for him, dude, by the way, for that.

Podcast Paul:

You know it's awesome when you look at the box score. You know that.

Coach Murph:

It's a set play, so he sat. That's a sad part, so, and so he sat. It was a set shot too beautifully, though, swish game over. After that. There was no coming back. That was serious. I watched the thing about it. Jt came up to him give him the chest it was so good and that's the only three points he had zero minutes.

Podcast Paul:

Look at the box score zero minutes, three points yeah, because you had, because it was it was like three seconds, zero minutes, three points.

Coach Murph:

That's so good, hold on a second but that that's.

Podcast Paul:

That's it right. We had so many roll guys on this team. No, they put one minute in there.

Coach Murph:

They, because they had it was one, but it was under one're right. They had to put the one in, because you can't have a zero.

Podcast Paul:

Right, but what about the other guys? Sam Houser, how big was Sam Houser in the finals man?

Coach Murph:

Boy becomes man Playing defense against Luka Sammy the Sniper is official. He's officially the Sniper and they call him that anyway, but he's official now. Poor Zingas with his presence and getting some time off for our big dog, al. Congratulations, big Al. Big Al got some time off because he's getting after 30 minutes of big Al. You know what I mean.

Coach Murph:

But just having Zing in there for the energy, when he gets in there, for the energy, when he gets in there, we all the crowd, the energy, his presence, but he is hurting and you heard what he said. He's like I don't even know how I did it. I don't even know how I was out there. I listened to everybody. I did it on repeat a couple of times and wanted to hear what everybody had to say. And Joe Zing, I have so much respect for Derek White. He's so humble and same with Drew. They're so selfless and humble man. It's like those two are my MVPs, b A, obviously one super guy MVPs. Did I not predict that? You said JT, but I was hoping JT was going to be like to get when he got there.

Podcast Paul:

I was in the moment on that one Maybe.

Coach Murph:

JB come on over. But he said JB said this is for my brother JT they daft and my brothers because they played a true team basketball game, finalized. It Couldn't be written better. That literally couldn't be scripted better man.

Podcast Paul:

Absolutely.

Coach Murph:

You know it wasn't too much of a blowout, it was. We had them, we knew it. You know it was. They showed the old way. That was a blowout. Yeah, the last game they won by exactly, it was almost the same right.

Podcast Paul:

But even I'm I'm looking at the guys behind you right there. Even like game three, you know who was a hero in give it to you.

Coach Murph:

Even he showed up, let's give gentleman some props.

Podcast Paul:

I told you x man not so much in game four, but game three x man yeah not so much in game four, but we'll forget about game four. Oh, he did he got.

Coach Murph:

First of all, it don't matter what level you're at, you need pt to get confidence. Son, I need to play, I need to play, I need to get in there and get my groove on and get a goal, get a shot, get an assist, get some good flavor going and then bang, you get that swagger going I, I disagree, I, I say you can't just go in there without playing, they lost talking about in the playoff. Hold on, you have to have some playoff again back to the historic thing that we just witnessed well, he's just a man with nerves dude.

Podcast Paul:

Hold on, we just trust. Witness knows history, history again, the warriors. They lost one, so they got us. We only lost three games and I would tell you right now, coach, the only reason we lost those three games is because of us, because we beat ourselves. Like you said, that's it.

Coach Murph:

But like let's go back to x-man, though I'm just saying, like he didn't have that much time, he did good, he had a couple game three he was great yeah and like, but it does matter in the playoffs, especially the pressure cooker is for realsies, man, I still get it like that. I'm like I don't know as much anymore.

Podcast Paul:

He wasn't the reason they lost game four. I was joking.

Coach Murph:

It's different when I'm playing pick up and then I'm leaving. Oh, let's talk about that good lesson in life, because everything's just lessons in growth. I literally don't use the word failure, I literally don't use the word mistake or coincidence. It's all experience, growth, you know, and lessons to be learned in life. It's all positivity. I had somebody say toxic positivity. Your positivity is toxic. That's toxic positivity. Murph, I'm like get out of here with that stuff. Bye, you're not even allowed and it just disappears. Bamoose, that's garbage. Be an optimistic person always and super positive Always. Where were we at?

Podcast Paul:

You're celebrating, you're just celebrating over here. We're talking about this team different now. They've broken through man. This is the best team. Again, I can't put them above 86, but this team, we've been watching this team, we've been waiting for this team and with the pieces that got brought in this year and with their depth, incredible, incredible.

Coach Murph:

What were we just talking about?

Podcast Paul:

before I went off on my rant again. You were just going on.

Coach Murph:

Oh, oh I know, but why we don't even know anymore. My rant's destroyed. We don't even know anymore.

Podcast Paul:

My rest doesn't matter, we're just, we're just celebrating here, all right cool we did the journey man completely.

Coach Murph:

Yeah, what was the rant about? I just had anyway um, you were just talking about determination and and all right, just life lessons oh yeah, life and growth, and no wait, no, no, no, whatever, we'll let it come back to us all right well, let's get, let's get to your point now.

Podcast Paul:

Look at that man, look at that man, that man, that man, that man. Oh, sweet, sweet man that's all right, nebious, hey, he's a champion, they're all champions, you see that?

Coach Murph:

Where my finger's at this man, mr Main Claus? Yeah, he's a baller dude. Wait until we see Jordan Walsh, oh yeah, oh, people don't know yet Jordan Walsh is. How about this jokester Big? Come on, talk about your big boy.

Podcast Paul:

Oh, I love Luke.

Coach Murph:

Everybody does.

Podcast Paul:

Listen, I'm staying in the moment. This team is together. They're not going anywhere. They already signed all these guys. Derek White is getting a contract extension, however.

Coach Murph:

I'm going to give you the trophy. We'll start doing it.

Podcast Paul:

We're not going to talk about dynasty.

Coach Murph:

Say again, say again on the extension. What did you say on the extension?

Podcast Paul:

I was just saying that Derek White's going to get an extension.

Coach Murph:

This team's going to be intact, the reason we're not going to the future. One more year, the reason we're not going to the future One more year.

Podcast Paul:

But the reason we're not going to the future and talking dynasties and talking all this stuff is because we got to remember, outside of poor Zingas, health was on our side these playoffs. A big reason you win a championship is you got to stay healthy.

Coach Murph:

Our crew, our doctors, our medical staff everybody is part of this win man. That's right. They did a great job. Training, oh, that's what we're talking about. Proper preparation prevents poor performance. That's the lesson learned in that loss. That loss we didn't. I don't care when there's a nail. Tomorrow's not promised to us. That's the biggest lesson. Tomorrow is not promised to any human being. So if you're up 3-0 and you have that game, who says tomorrow's the game? I'm like my boys didn't play well.

Podcast Paul:

I'm so glad they lost that game.

Coach Murph:

If there's a nail in the coffin and it's in halfway. You take the hammer and go Shabat on it, woo, 10. Woo, chop, and you end the game. I know we all wanted to go back in Boston, but it's a good lesson in preparation, paul. They were not prepared, like you said, and we all said.

Podcast Paul:

It wouldn't have felt the same.

Coach Murph:

How are you preparing for your day tomorrow, Just tomorrow, it's just today, right now. But we need to proper fueling nutrition mindset, putting your earphones, doing proper stuff for your body, getting ready, getting ready for war. Kobe was the best of that, Kobe.

Podcast Paul:

We're not ever going to talk about game four again. It doesn't matter. In fact, I'm glad.

Coach Murph:

No, I don't have to. It was a good lesson.

Podcast Paul:

It needed to come back to Boston. It was perfect. We didn't sweat out as Celtics fans. It doesn't get any better than this dude. This whole playoff run From Missoula, yeah, yeah, we didn't sweat it out at all.

Coach Murph:

Dude Five games round one.

Podcast Paul:

We knew Five games round two Sweep in the Eastern Conference Finals. Five games in the finals Dude.

Coach Murph:

This is what we've been waiting for, this is why it's so special no-transcript everything that happened unless you earn it, and they earned it absolutely that's it.

Coach Murph:

You don't deserve anything unless you earn. That's right. Can I give kairi some advice? Okay, there you go. Here's my advice for you. Kyrie Irving, I hope you're listening because I respect you as a man and a man of God and faith and growth and all that stuff. I'm right there with spiritual maturity Be the villain, be the villain, be the villain. It's over. That's what kobe was. That's what the rock was. The rock was. We're all men and women with emotions. The rock wanted to be loved so bad and he wanted to go. The ww's so and they hated him. People hated the rock. He got booed. He didn't want that, but then he came. The villains, like you, want me to be the villain. I'll be the villain. And now look at the rock, most beloved man in the world, you know it doesn't matter because it's over.

Coach Murph:

Play that role he was playing. No, no, let me finish. He's like kind, this is war man. It's fun. You get into a role and there's no babies and I love that we have deuce around but there's no babies. This is war. Get to shake hands after the game's not even over. It's two minutes up. Don't shake hands, get out of here. Get out of here, like. But you have to set in this one dice guy stuff, it doesn't matter, you got. I think he cares too much about being loved by people and you are going to be the villain in somebody's story, no matter what. People. Love coach murph, love him. Alan, I was the best. One million people are gonna love you. One billion are gonna hate, going to hate you. Who cares? Be carefree. Let go of the fear of other people's opinions. That's it Done. He didn't show up. We outplayed him and they played great D, but it was sad in my opinion.

Podcast Paul:

For me, though, it's over we won the championship, oh no, it's a stop.

Coach Murph:

He did his job.

Podcast Paul:

He did his job. He did his job. Actually, no, it's like dude, come on. But but for us, coach, going back to 2018, when we said this all started, that's when it started with kairi.

Coach Murph:

We got kairi there's some bad juju there I don't give you kairi.

Podcast Paul:

There's no more.

Coach Murph:

I don't care, you stepped on the leprechaun or stepped on right. No, no, no, no, no, that's not the way I see it now.

Podcast Paul:

Yeah, he came to Boston to deliver us a championship. It took eight years and he finally did it. So thank you, kyrie Irving, you finally delivered our championship.

Coach Murph:

Yeah, he gave it to us.

Podcast Paul:

I want to earn it more. I want to earn it more from you, like he had 15 points and nine assists.

Coach Murph:

He was doing a little Kyrie work. He was hitting some shots. Boy, he's Kyrie, you're such a beautiful scorer. I love watching him play. He's one of my favorite ambidextrous players at the hoop, Left to right, you never know. Literally is a magician. Luka love watching. What a competitor. He's a bad man. He's had 28 and 12 of the rebounds. He always has a double-double, Always, no matter what. It's just like oh, is he getting a triple-double? He's a man. They don't have enough From the beginning. They just didn't have enough firepower. No, it's about chess pieces on the chessboard and we outdid them by far and we knew that already.

Podcast Paul:

We knew that and we talked about that, the matchup was good for us, but here's. Here's the deal. I told you he blew it, he screwed the pooch. It wouldn't have mattered who we played, even if we played First of all Never.

Coach Murph:

Never Pull down Zing. He grabbed Zing First of all. That's, that's big baby stuff. So, pj, you had a lot of respect for me. Now you don't Big baby stuff. You don't grab a man From behind and throw them down. You get around him with a bow and work it out.

Coach Murph:

I don't think the game was over, don't take your hands and throw me a man down. Zingas went down and there was a little thing and I love that. Bring me back to the eighties with all that stuff, but it's it was. And then the rest of the energy. I'm like you just screwed up big time, pal. So he is, his numbers stunk with the whole rebounds four points. Pj had the Gafford stunk three rebounds.

Podcast Paul:

Six points. Why did they? Why did they stink?

Coach Murph:

Why did they stink?

Podcast Paul:

So good because we had such great defense.

Coach Murph:

That's why so there isn't more the fact that we played better defense than them stinking, but they didn't. They could have rose up a little bit. So I'm taking a page from Stephen a. He was like where are they? And everybody was like they're just playing ball, they're just getting dogged, and like there's a little bit, there's more of that, the fact that we were awesome. We had nine steals to their four and we only had seven turnovers to 13. We had 51 rebounds. They had 35, you know.

Podcast Paul:

So we do. Our record was 80 and 13. Is that right? The entire year? Oh my gosh, dude, we were wire to wire the best team in the NBA.

Coach Murph:

We're one of the best NBA. That was one of the best NBA teams in history.

Podcast Paul:

Anybody out there that thinks we had an easy playoff run. All this nonsense. We were the best team in the NBA, best roster. We crushed everybody. It wouldn't have mattered who they play. Yeah, maybe it would have gone six or seven games. This team was not going to be denied this year. No one can do any of this talking anymore.

Coach Murph:

We have they can. They're going to talk, but who cares? It's garbage, they're always going to talk. We have the. The pudding is made. Proves going to talk. The pudding is made. No more talking. And I got berries. I might have a little berries.

Podcast Paul:

No more talking. That's the talk. You're a champion what?

Coach Murph:

are they going to say now they can't Nothing there. It is Gold Right there.

Podcast Paul:

All right, let's talk about Coach Joe. Let's talk to.

Coach Murph:

Caden, real quick, caden. We're going to see him this summer. I was trying to surprise him, but guess what he's doing right now.

Podcast Paul:

What is he?

Coach Murph:

doing. Caden's working a camp for the kids. So he's doing the camp for the kids. They all look up to him. He's a big, shining, awesome dude, cool. I'm so happy for him. Caden, I'll shoot you, I'll send this over to you when the pod's over. But we're gonna have him on the summer when he drops 30 and 15 on him, he's gonna have a. He's gonna kill in the summer league. He's just growing into the man that I know he is and and I believe that he can go to the nba still and that we're gonna keep that nba dreams. I always say no plan b. That's what I always say to him. Anyway, what else?

Podcast Paul:

well, I want to keep this on the celebration, and I do have a.

Coach Murph:

I do have a parade to get to, so oh, I have to go to the parade I want to talk about two more things and then we're going to get out of here.

Podcast Paul:

When is the parade? Am I supposed to?

Coach Murph:

be there right now. I just know it's friday, okay, good praise friday. You got a couple of days already would you like me to go in honor of the show? In the honor of the show, I'll go. I'm going to wear my J2M Cut off Underneath this. Now we're talking, it's not on now but that I was going to save it for the end. But I can't contain myself. That's what it's all about. That's what they have. This is them. Boom Woo. I can't contain myself.

Podcast Paul:

That's what it's all about. That's what they are. This is them. Yeah, boom.

Coach Murph:

Woo.

Podcast Paul:

Let's go bro Well, I expect a picture, and what I want to talk about is Coach Joe. We haven't hit on it at all, or should we now call him Coach Missoula?

Coach Murph:

Right man, Mr Missoula.

Podcast Paul:

Now we have to call him Coach Missoula.

Coach Murph:

If you please. He's Joe. He's not your average Joe. Humble, faithful man. It's unbelievable His growth. They listened to him, respect him. They said they made him smarter. He made those guys smarter.

Podcast Paul:

Timely timeouts.

Coach Murph:

Timely timeouts.

Podcast Paul:

Good matchups, knowing when a lineup's not working. Like the last game, they went small. I don't know if you saw that, where they went small and all of a sudden, Dallas made a run.

Coach Murph:

I saw that.

Podcast Paul:

Guess what he called a timeout. Changed the lineup and everything went good again. He was making some good changes. He knew when to push the buttons this year.

Coach Murph:

He knew the pulse of hey. Shout out to Sam Cassell Sam. Good job Paul. He's a big part of our coaching staff. Smart man, great player, good coach.

Podcast Paul:

Let's go. That was the other thing that we didn't talk about. When you talk about Wick and Brad Putting together the right coaching staff for Joe, getting him set up for success, they had it all going from the beginning. Now that we can look backwards With this championship. They had it all going from the beginning. Now that we can look backwards with this championship. Yeah, they had it all going from the from day one, man, and it's been an awesome journey. We did it, man.

Coach Murph:

So yeah, like real quick June, it's Juneteenth, so let's say it, paul's off from work. So while we have this, paul right now, it's.

Coach Murph:

It's actually was going to be today, but yeah, so this emancipation day, so we have the black independence. Come on, man, one race, human race. I'm not, I'm not white, I'm light-skinned. That's how I feel. See what I'm saying? One, one unity. That's why I have that jb. Yeah, so great with that diversity. But let's give props to our culture, the people that we love, the people of color, because it's a black Independence Day, this is for them, freedom Day, and it's also known as Jubilee Day, like the Celtics Championship Jubilee. Baby. We did it, we did it. So we're taping this show right now, on the 19th of June, at 118, right now. But that's why I just wanted to get that out there. What else do you want to talk about, paul? I got one more thing for you, obviously.

Podcast Paul:

That's all I got, man, I'm just happy. We can't stop, I'm happy, and content.

Coach Murph:

We're very content. I'm more than content. I feel like I'm whole. We did it. The season two was a full journey to June, all the way preseason, all the way preseason, all the way to the nba finals winning our beloved green. We would have been here even if we didn't win.

Podcast Paul:

I guess the last thing I will, I will have and I said I wasn't going to talk about game four, but this is the last time I ever talk about it there. Another reason why I was so happy they lost on friday night, even though in the moment it was just awful right everybody wanted because I got to wake up on sunday morning, which was father's day. Oh, and I got this wonderful t-shirt best dad in the game so I got to wear this monday night.

Coach Murph:

I was also all the way stand up so you can see the whole thing stand up. I just showed it. Oh nice, in the game matthew murphy, maddie, ice unbelievable artwork, unbelievable presence. Great, he's going in my tops for greatest gift giving for father's day of all time. What I was awesome walter.

Podcast Paul:

Yeah, he even took my dog, walter, into a photo shoot. I don't have it with me, sorry folks. It's okay, I'll talk about it. It's a beautiful picture of walter in a tatum jersey with a basketball so good, all framed. So I got to have walter framed with jason tatum, who had his breakout game in the finals because of this, with my best dad in the game, and then my son was good enough to put together this huge bowl of green confetti.

Podcast Paul:

So when we won, the confetti is going off in the garden. I even had it in my own house. I felt like I was in the game. That's incredible. We've been in the game.

Coach Murph:

We've been in the game. The spirit of Matthew. Thank you, matthew. You're doing that. That's what it's all about. It's that love and sharing it for one another. You know, doing these surprises for one another and that's a beautiful thing.

Podcast Paul:

Confetti flying for podcast, paul for the you know, it's just it all came together, as we wanted to, with the celtics and now we can just bask in the glory all summer long of our 2024 world champion, boston celtics. Banner 18. It really sounds weird how now we're chasing banner 19. We've been talking banner 18 for so long 16 years, right and it does sound a little weird saying banner I don't need it but we'll get it no I'm staying in the moment.

Coach Murph:

I know it's the best one of my friends I said.

Podcast Paul:

I said, fine, we'll get 20 then hey, I think that it was fitting that zingas did make it into the game. So our motto of no zing, no ring it got to play out right no zing, no ring, he played no zing no ring.

Coach Murph:

No, no, that worked out. Didn't play. It's no zing no ring, it's like he, we got he's there. He was in there well, he dominated the first two games, his energy, that he has our relationship with the sixth man, which is the crowd, which is the arena. Yes, that's right A huge part of this game is very important, even him being on the bench. That connection that we've had with him is one of the main reasons.

Podcast Paul:

And in the third quarter, not that it was getting that that close, but he did have some plays where he had some block shots. He had that cool dunk I don't know.

Coach Murph:

You know what no first time might be in history? No quiz, we don't need it, there's no quiz.

Podcast Paul:

No, yeah, no, there's not, we passed with flying green colors and flags what a difference a year makes, coach.

Coach Murph:

But that's, I guess I'll just leave it on this then, man, because, like back to the zing thing, what a difference a year makes. That's what that's so good, that's a well said. What a difference one year can make. So daily consistency, these little baby steps. It's just today If I do something for my mind, body, spirit, if I do something for somebody else, and then the next day, all of a sudden, the day turns into a week, week turns into months, months turns into a year. You're completely boom. Huge gains and change happen in that one year. But when it comes down to it, it's our energy, the chemistry. That's all you are in these meat suits, that's what you are today. Your energy is affecting everything around you, and it was cozy, cozy, pee dude, so cozy. So today, take some time in your busy day to get cozy. That's all. That's all we want you to do. We want you to have more peace, love.

Podcast Paul:

We did it, man. We did it man, we did it. Folks, you were on this journey with us together. It is so great, thank you man. Thank you for saying that we completed this journey. We'll be back. We'll be back with a whole new journey, but let's just enjoy this moment. Let's enjoy this celebration and you will see us here these births soon.

Coach Murph:

Thank you fans, we love you, the folks. Thanks for watching.

Podcast Paul:

We're out of here, peace.
